- March 4, 1962 - The Southwest Baptist Mission, a mission outreach of First Baptist Church of Melbourne, began as a Sunday School in the Crown Heights area with 23 in attendance.
- November 22, 1963 - Groundbreaking for the original building at 4028 South Babcock Street.
- April 19, 1964 - Mission Dedication Service was held. Attendance the first Sunday in the new building included 77 in Sunday School and 51 in Worship Service.
- September 1966 - Sunday School enrollment reached a record high of 195.
- August 6, 1967 - Rev. Eugene Allen became the first full-time pastor.
- October 4, 1967 - The mission was given full church status becoming Southwest Baptist Church.
- April 26, 1970 - As senior pastor at the time, Rev. Y.G. Lanier brought a charismatic, non-denominational flavor to the church. At this time ties to First Baptist Church of Melbourne were severed.
Note: Church on the Rock Melbourne is grateful for the rich heritage of our roots from First Baptist Church of Melbourne. We consider FBCM our sister church and have made efforts to heal any wounds that may have occurred over this split. We have since received a blessing from Dr. Larry Bazer of FBCM and continue to have good relations between us.
- August 1976 - Pastor Randy Ostrander was called to be pastor. Pastor Gary Montecalvo served as Associate Pastor.
- April 18, 1979 - The church changed its name to The Church on the Way.
- March 26, 1981 - The church name again changed to New Covenant Fellowship.
- February 19, 1984 - Groundbreaking for a larger sanctuary.
- March 14, 1985 was the first Sunday in the new building to worship and praise the Lord.
- March 1985 - Pastor Jim Maher joined the staff as Associate Pastor.
- August 1985 - New Covenant Christian School Homeschool Division was founded by Sandra Hancock.
- June 1986 - Tony Hauck joined the staff as Youth Pastor.
- February 1989 - Pastor Ostrander was seriously injured in an accident. Pastor Jim Maher served as interim pastor for several months.
- September 1989 - Pastor Jim Maher was ordained as Senior Pastor.
- March 1, 1992 - Gary Stebbins was ordained as Associate Pastor.
- January 1, 1995 - Renewal Meetings began at the Tabernacle Church. NCF was greatly impacted by this move of God and participated in these meetings.
- April 4, 2000 - Pastor Jim Maher resigned to join with the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. Pastor Gary Stebbins was ordained as Senior Pastor.
- May 2004 - NCF was officially debt-free.
- February 6, 2006 - The church name was changed to Church on the Rock Melbourne.
- February 5, 2010 - MyHOP monthly prayer meetings began alternating between COTRM and Freedom Christian Center.
- October 26, 2014- Aaron Heinly ordained Associate Pastor.
- August 30, 2015 - Pastor Gary Stebbins retired as Senior Pastor taking the role of Associate Pastor. Pastor Tony Hauck was ordained as Senior Pastor.
- September 8, 2019 - We were excited to launch our new Youth Group led by Pastor Aaron and Brandi Heinly. We look forward to excitement ahead.
- January 2022 - Aaron Heinly joined the staff as full time Associate/Youth/Children's Pastor. Jeremiah Gonda joined the staff as part time Band/AV Director.
