Pastor Aaron brought an excellent word on Sunday (May 31, 2015). I would encourage you to check it out here if you have not heard it. Below are a few of my thoughts taken from his sermon:
We must be careful not to approach the Bible through the lenses of our own personal biases and prejudices. It is important to avoid rationalizing scripture to fit our particular mindset. As you read the Bible learn to absorb what it says first and then apply it to your life, even if it is contrary to your worldview. We must fit our mindset and perspectives into the Bible rather than trying to make the Bible fit into our understanding of life. Two excellent verses that speak to this our found in 1 Corinthians … 1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Rom 12.1-2) Meditate on the Word of God and allow it to permeate every part of who you are. God's Word will never return void in your life. Believe it! |
